Helicobacter Antigen Fecal Test

The test is based on the antigen-antibody reaction.

Home diagnostics for the presence of Helicobacter pylori bacteria should be carried out at least once a year, because, as in the case of other diseases, early diagnosis guarantees faster healing.

When the test is positive, you should visit your doctor for a final diagnosis and consult about starting treatment.

Important for the pharmacist

The Helicobacter Stool Antigen Test is especially recommended for children! The examination is painless, without the need to puncture the skin. It is worth recommending it to parents, because H. pylori usually runs in families.
Recommended for people who have undergone H. pylori eradication and want to check whether the bacteria have been removed.
Patients ought to be reminded that the test should not be performed during treatment with antibiotics, taking PPIs (proton pump inhibitors) or
bismuth preparations, as the test will be unreliable.

Important for the patient

To perform the test correctly, a small stool sample is needed: it is enough to cover the surface of the applicator with a thin layer. If the sample size is too large, the test result may be invalid.

The method of collecting the stool sample is important. Don’t take it from one spot. The tip of the applicator should be “screwed” into three different places to a depth of about one centimeter
