pH Control Viganal Test pH Test
Vaginal infections are a common female problem. They are usually associated with changes in the acidity of the vaginal environment: when its pH changes towards alkaline, the protective barrier in the form of lactobacilli is weakened. The Vaginal pH Test allows to detect deviations from the normal pH of the vagina.
The vaginal pH should be between 3.8 and 4.4. If it is higher, it means an increased risk of intimate infection.
Important for the pharmacist
The test is very simple: it is in the form of an applicator that is placed in the vagina for 10 seconds. As much as 40 percent women have problems with their intimate health.
The pH test should also be done prophylactically, after antibiotic therapy, a visit to the swimming pool, sexual contact (especially with a new partner). It is also recommended during perimenopause and pregnancy. In case of an increase in vaginal pH, it is worth consulting a doctor.
Important for the patient
Changes in vaginal acidity are not synonymous with the presence of infection. However, they can warn that infection is a real threat, because private parts have reduced immunity.
If the test shows unfavorably changed vaginal pH, it is worth repeating the test in a few hours or the next day. Momentary pH fluctuations are normal.
If the trend persists, it is worth consulting a doctor.
